I glanced out the window last week and thought to myself,
How will I know what to wear to school today if I don’t look at the weather?

An important question, given this is the Pacific Northwest and the weather is painfully, annoyingly, precociously changing all the time.

Then I thought of my spiritual wardrobe–the clothing you can’t see but I know I’m ‘wearing?’

How will I know what to put on unless I look at the weather–what’s going on in me? 
Is it stormy inside?  Sunny for a time? A little cloudy?

What will I wear?

And God brought me to Colossians Chapter 3, verse 12:

• compassion–tenderhearted pity and mercy

• kindness–kind feeling

• humility–an accurate view of yourself

• gentleness–gentle ways

• and patience–which is tireless, long-suffering and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper”

This morning I will need both–inside and outside clothing………..especially the invisible patience piece–a hat perhaps?

Why?  it is Field Day today at school–fun and games and activities all day long outside on every available playground and field …………..
and it is P O U R I N G  R A I N…

I think I’ll need a smile, too.
