For the Weekend…..Know Wonder

Waiting says ‘here I am with empty, open hands
watching for your wonders.’

Listening, looking, living
like a cup ready to be filled to overflowing.

Going, getting, grasping
says ‘give me this now‘,
keeps my hands occupied with
not-life, missing completely
Your gifts,
leaving  me full of myself–
dull and lifeless as
dead wood.
I’m choosing empty on purpose
to stand and receive your God good gifts.
You always amaze——
no wonder.

  1. Loved your post. I so relate with the “give me this now” tendency. What a struggle waiting is for me to overcome. By the way, great name (mine is spelled JoDee). I'm also a teacher, wife, worshipper, writer, and gardener. We have a lot in common.

  2. Joanne–I had to go look it up after I read your comment. The botanical name is Corylopsis.I love to say that. I chose it because the yellow 'flower' you see in the photo comes out in January. It's the first bit of color in the garden after our very dead, gray winters. Makes me smile 🙂

Thank you for stopping by...your comments light up my day!
