He Will Feed You Too

The other morning I was lamenting to the Lord–
accounting to Him the dearth of any time set aside to
feed myself
emotionally, mentally, spiritually–
(forgetting that He already knows)
and glanced out the window at the birds.
(not these birds…….this is snow from a few years back…)
but birds ignoring the rain,
balancing on the fence,
swooping from the roof to the feeders,
hopping on the grass,
pecking the ground
all about my yard.
In the rain.
Pouring rain.
Cold. Dark. Sopping ground. Wet.
(Did I mention the rain?) It matched my dark mood.
Then God spoke very clearly and simply to my heart…..
“I feed the birds; don’t worry, I’ll feed you.”
“I will feed you.”
“Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow nor reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?”
The Gospel of Matthew
Chapter 6, verse 26
I am clinging to those words.

  1. Here's my prayer: that as you feed truth to us, (often served up in new, delicious-to-read ways!) you will be filled also. Emotionally, may you be filled with peace as you write within the presence of God. Mentally, may you find rest, as nebulous thoughts find expression. And spiritually may you be filled with strength, hope, and wisdom as God gives you the words to share. Thank you, Jody, for your honesty, and for the reminder that we can be content–even in the rain.

  2. When I watch birds, I always think of this Scripture. I know if they can make, so can we. And when there are billions and billions of birds that are being cared for and having food, etc., I know only He is the answer for the billions of us. And the “ones” of us.

You made the thoughts very clean and the photos very GORGEOUS. Loved it. AND recognized the yard. Was a blessing to “visit” you again. Thanks.

  3. Nourishing words…what peace to know that the Father is tenderly caring for all of us…the hungry, the weary, the famished, and even those who don't even know they are hungry yet…thanks Jodie for serving us His word today! Kel
