Resting on the Wind

I sit outside on the deck in my spot

where I hear better

and I see an eagle in the distant sky (not these. smile.)

He’s floating, soaring, up, up and up…

He seldom flaps his wings, gently resting on invisible
currents of air,

shifting directions by a slight tilt of his wing feathers in the

direction he wants to go.

All he has to do is nod his head and off he goes.

It occurred to me the wind was doing all the work and
all he had to do was lean in to what was already
there…
I’d like to be like that–how about you?

“Your testimonies are my heritage forever,
for they are the joy of my heart.
I incline** my heart to perform your statutes forever,
to the end.”  Psalm 119:111, 112
**’incline–to lean toward, to be disposed to a given preference,
opinion or disposition.’

  1. Thank you so much for visiting my site. I looked at your blog, “Precious”–it's beautiful! (The Google translator helped.) I liked your post and the quote about starting over again when God gives us Mondays. 🙂

  2. Ah….God is indeed visiting you in your yard. Like this image a lot. Resting on the everlasting arms, hey?

  3. Beautiful. Good to be carried by God:)

  4. I love me some good deck time too! I always say life makes more sense after about fifteen minutes on my deck.

Today I'm going to work to let the wind do all of the work, and I'm going to try and quit flapping so hard.

    Thanks, Jody.

  5. Hi dear Jody
What I find so amazing is how our Lord has created birds with legs that a not as solid as ours, but quite hollow. There is not much of “self” they can use to fly. All the provision has been made for them and He still provides all they need! Quite a lesson for us, don't you think!
    Blessings from Finding heaven

  6. Nice little blog, in all its simplicity. I've never seen that great birds in my country, but through your eyes, I see them. I listen to the spiritual/biblical lesson you are talking about 🙂

  7. Oh yes, my heart yearns to lean in to Him… allowing Him to to carry me.:)
    Blessings to you ~ Mary
