in love isn’t so much
(falling) as paying
attention to what pulls
you  t  o  w  a  r  d  s
someone else.

water can echo or storm,
babble and breathe quiet
but either way, moving is best–
(sitting still makes for stagnant,
and one can’t have that.)

are turning slowly,
moving–yes–towards change,
a season of quiet
like gentle green blankets
laid out on the lawn.

I welcome the shhhhhh…..
of the leaves
and look to the day
six weeks hence–when those
same trees, barren and bare,
will leave a winter view,
unimpeded by All That Green
so I can pay
attention to what pulls
me towards falling
all
         over
                    again.

“Samara,” she said and the words took flight in my hearing, invisible windborne flora soaring across my thoughts. She spoke of wings, a divine creation spinning towards earth to plant itself like a stubborn weed-fierce and stuck. Imagination took root, sending me flying home towards Webster’s– ‘some-are-uh’ – and there a black and white drawing…

    Miracle

We’ve been informed we are flying  at 29,000 feet (approximately) above the face of the Earth, suspended (how? by speed, lift and whatnot) like a moving planet jettisoned in a line moving at the speed of sound (light?). Refreshments are served, secured with invisible payments traveling via plastic and magnets swiped by staff standing still as…

It only takes a few blueberries to purple the smoothie in my glass. Begging to add to the blender to lose that indigo hue–            strawberries (darker)            milk (lighter) still leaves it purple-ish, staining my teeth on the way down and the sink when I’m all…

The feeder hangs swaying, no avian fellows alighting. (males are the brightest; why?) I wait and watch–they’ve flown I wonder where–for food? Will their shimmering yellow return, a harbinger of the lightening days ahead? Indeed, one by one, I know they’ll come hungry again (still) as they’ve done year after year finding food, flying beauty, feeding me with their…
